Take A Stand Factor

My debut album, “Take A Stand” is out now on Westwood Recordings! The album features 11 different vocalists, 9 awesome musicians and was recorded in 7 different countries. Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of this, I feel like we created something unique and special. I wanted an album I could be proud of, a collection of work with meaning, and I feel we accomplished that.

I hope you enjoy it, much love!

Calgary based DJ and producer, Stickybuds, has spent over a decade mastering his craft. Traveling the world playing renowned festivals including Glastonbury (UK), Breakfest (AUS), Boomtown (UK), Envision (Costa Rica), Burning Man (USA), and Shambhala (CAN), and even securing a featured sync in Sony’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” trailer thanks to his collaboration with K+Lab on “Clap Ya Hands Now,” Stickybuds is now ready to reveal the next chapter of his already illustrious career with his debut artist album Take A Stand.

Out now via Westwood Recordings, Take A Stand is an extensive body of work recorded in seven countries that features eleven vocalists and nine musicians including Burro Banton, Frase, Blackout JA, Richard Kim, Rubi Dan, Prince Alla, Mr. Bill, Too Many T’s, Sacha Vee, and BridgeHill. Following previously released singles, the politically charged anthems “Crooked Politicians” featuring Richard Kim and “The Firestarter” featuring Blackout JA, the remainder of Take A Stand effortlessly delves into a myriad of genres with heavy ties to reggae and dub. “This album is a collection of music that I created to document how I’ve been feeling about the world lately,” describes Stickybuds real name Tyler Martens. “In the 9 songs on the album, there are 11 different vocalists. 11 different voices expressing different messages and topics from anti-war, corruption, personal growth, economics, accountability, and love.” From lobbying to government corruption, Take A Stand is a no holds barred approach for Stickybuds to express exactly how he is feeling about our current state of affairs. From the stunning horn-infused”Heavy Load” featuring Prince Alla, to the glitch-hop leaning “Send It,” Stickybuds fuses classic and contemporary on one cohesive project whose eclectic stylings will no doubt attract listeners across demographics and musical preference.
If you’d like to know more about the messages, the writing process, and the collaborators, I did a pretty in-depth interview with Stereofox at the following link. https://www.stereofox.com/interview-stickybuds/

“All around hot-shot production voice Stickybuds makes his return to release with his brand new compilation project entitled ‘Take A Stand’. Westwood Recordings have struck gold with this one as Stickybuds lays down a selection of high energy compositions, ranging from drum and bass to dancehall and back to dub reggae. There is some serious quality on display here, but for us the immediate highlights have to be the dubwise pressure and rootsy switches of ‘Heavy Load’ in collaboration with Prince Alla, along with the tearout neuro sounds of ‘The Firestarter’ featuring Blackout JA. This is a great album project, showcasing real versatility as a producer.”
